One streamer that has proved time and again its dedication to meaningful scripts and stories worth telling is Netflix. The OTT Mogul has always celebrated a good story, no matter the risks involved. And it takes the celebration up a notch if the story is a Netflix Original. Therefore, as the clock struck noon on the 1st of October, Netflix summoned all the Brellies to celebrate The Umbrella Academy. What fans did not expect, however, was for the streamer to make a special announcement.

1st of October holds a special place in The Umbrella Academy as well as the hearts of its gazillion viewers. Therefore, it was only natural for Netflix to celebrate the special day. But the streamer truly stole the stars from the skies for the fandom as it announced the final season of The Umbrella Academy to the unsuspecting fans of the series.

The video posted by the streamer featured the beloved cast of the series playing with confetti, with their birthday caps on. Towards the end of the video, the iconic logo of the Umbrella Academy, which fans have come to love, took over the screen but with a 2024 written at the bottom. Safe for the cast that featured in the video, it seems like Netflix has followed the blueprint of its Stranger Things Season 5 announcement.

Fans react to Netflix announcing The Umbrella Academy Season 4

While Netflix wished the Brellies a “Happy Birthday” and announced a new season all in one breath, fans of the series acknowledged the significance of the 1st of October first before inquiring further about the last season, proving just how important the day is. For the unversed, the first day of October was the day when 43 women gave birth at the same time. Unknown to each other and unbeknownst to their own pregnancies, these 43 women mark the origin of the superheroes that will become the soul of Umbrella Academy. Therefore, fans made sure to celebrate the occasion before expressing their excitement about the new chapter.

The announcement of The Umbrella Academy Season 4 has naturally excited the fandom. In fact, some started pleading with the streamer for the official trailer right away. Given the fact that Netflix is notorious for taking its sweet time before releasing the trailer as evidenced by The Witcher Season 3, perhaps it was not such a bad idea.

Apart from protocol queries about the trailer and release date, most of the fandom was just grateful that they would get to see the cast on the screen together again. Some even joked about how old the characters would have gotten by the time Netflix dropped the final season in 2024. Safe to say, the only umbrella that this academy needs is from its own fans owing to their excited frenzy.
