Meghan Markle, or the Duchess of Sussex, is one of the most well-known public figures in recent times. While her entry into the Royal Family was news enough, what made for eye-rolling headlines was the infamous split from the House of Windsor and the interview with Oprah Winfrey that followed. It is common knowledge that Markle has been the subject of royal scrutiny. But where does this scrutiny come from? Looks like someone from the family has some inside stories that will help us trace its roots.

A Royal cousin recently shared some anecdotes about the British Royal family that show a pattern of behavior toward outsiders. Empathizing with Meghan Markle‘s plight, the crowned relative even offered some suggestions to the Duchess of Sussex. Let us find out what they are.

King Charles’ cousin has some words of wisdom for Meghan Markle

In an exclusive interview with The Post, Christina Oxenberg gave an insight into The British Royals. Oxenberg hails from the Siberian Royal Family and is the third cousin to the current heir of the throne, King Charles III. The British Royal house allegedly engages in various forms of poking fun at the new entrants to the family; especially the ladies that are involved with the family members. According to her, they have to be “tough as nails” if they want to come out through the other side.

“To Meghan Markle, I say, ‘What you are going through is a hellish kind of hazing,'” believes Oxenberg. Whether it was the American actress and photographer Koo Stark (mentioned in The Crown), Princess Michael of Kent, a Czech-German Baroness, or even the current Princess of Wales; everyone had to endure the Royal mocking. The family apparently delights itself by giving the newcomers a hard time.

In fact, back in 2011, when Kate Middleton and Prince William were seeing each other, the Royal Family dubbed her “Kate Middle Class,” revealed Oxenberg. Moreover, presumably the Queen Consort, Camilla, once labeled Middleton’s parents as “Meet the Fockers.” In the same vein, Christina even had some advice for Meghan that she shared in the interview.

“If she can just hang in there, someone else will come along who can take the heat. Nobody gets a pass.”

Christina is a fashion designer and writer by profession and is the daughter of Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia. Also, her sister Catherine Oxenberg is an actress known for playing Princess Diana in 1982 The Royal Romance of Charles and the 1992 Diana and Charles and Diana: Unhappily Ever After.
