“Keanu has a lot of…” – ‘John Wick’ Director Compares Keanu Reeves’ Character to ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo for This Major Reason
Legendary characters are sometimes so perfect, you want to explore them without disturbing their aura. Keanu Reeves’ John Wick is one such example that still has hopes in the fans’ minds for more things to come. The movie was first released in 2014 and has already released four parts, with the latest one being released on 24th March 2023. But considering the success of sequels, the thought of a prequel has certainly crossed the mind of its makers.
Prequels help show how the character got where he was in the original series. The early stages and circumstances often sculpt a person and add more depth to the character as well. But then that adds the pressure of ensuring it does not disturb a fan’s imagination and disrupt their idea.

Why the Keanu Reeves starred movie faces an enormous challenge with its prequel
After releasing multiple successful sequels, a John Wick prequel makes sense. But co-writer Shay Hatten recently revealed to Collider the biggest challenge that they face. That is finding the perfect actor to replace Reeves, who would act just as well. “I know that Keanu has a lot of ideas about John’s past that are compelling,” he said. The three, including director Chad Stahelski, even met together to discuss more possibilities for future parts.
But having seen Wick’s journey, every fan must have their version of how he looks, his story, and his world already. To add to it, a prequel explanation could take away from the character’s mystical personality. Although what they could do instead is show flashbacks of his meets and certain scenarios like his meet with ‘the Director’ played by Angelina Huston.

As of now, the franchise is already in motion to explore thorough spin-offs. Here is a look at their 2024 project with a major casting.
After John Wick, we will see a spin-off starring Ana de Armas
Ballerina will be the next step for the John Wick franchise. It will star Ana De Armas as a ballet dancer who is on a mission to avenge her family’s death. The story will be based on a period between John Wick’s chapters 3 and 4. Hatten, who has also co-written Ballerina, assured of Reeves’ reprising his role in this spin-off with great importance. This means we will probably see the Blonde actress and The Matrix actor together.
