The last few months have shook the DC fandom to its roots. Ever since James Gunn took over the reins of DCEU, the franchise is in a state of complete chaos. The franchise has cancelled a number of upcoming projects and axed various stars . But what shook everyone was firing Henry Cavill as Superman. The actor had a long-term vision to take the character forward. But were you aware that the actor did not want the 2017 movie Justice League to release too soon?
Back in 2013, Cavill made his debut with Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel and left everyone in awe. Since then, the actor made a number of appearances as the Son Of Krypton before bidding farewell to the role. Although Cavill reprised his role as Superman for Justice League, what did the actor have to say about the release period of the movie?
Why was Henry Cavill concerned about Justice League releasing too soon ?
Back when Henry Cavill first made his debut in Man Of Steel, Zack Snyder was the mastermind behind all the plans. It was the 300 director’s vision that the franchise was following. Man Of Steel was followed by Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League. While the idea of Justice League did excite Cavill, the actor was also aware of how delicately the film needed to be handled. In an interview with ABC news, Cavill shed some light on the topic.
The British actor spoke, “Justice League could be great if done correctly. It has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought.” Furthermore, Cavill added how bringing up different characters and introducing them to one another was not a simple task. At the same time, the Enola Holmes star shared how he felt that the worst thing to do was rushing the film to its release.
Meanwhile, it was around the same time when Zack Snyder shocked the fans with his sudden departure from the franchise. Interestingly, when Joss Whedon stepped in to take over from where Snyder left, he left DC with a hole in their pocket. To remove Cavill’s moustache using CGI, Whedon made DC pay over $24 million. Strange as it sounds it cost the studio more than Dwayne Johnson’s entire salary for Black Adam.
