For a long time, Will Smith had kept his personal life private. He did not reveal much about his relationships or family life before. But he chose to bare it all in his memoir Will which was released early this year. The memoir showcased the highs and lows of the superstar’s life even before he achieved stardom.

Besides the vulnerable moments, Will made sure to inject some lighthearted moments too. For this one time, he wanted his son Trey to participate in naming his and Jada’s first child. 

Will Smith averted the horror of naming his first kid Jada Luigi

Before he married Jada, Will Smith was married to Sheree Zampino. Together they had a son named Trey. When Will conceived Jaden with Jada, Trey was 6 years old. The Men in Black actor wanted Trey to name their kid because his psychologist had recommended it. It helps build a sense of connection and ownership

But the name that Trey chose caused Jada and Will to question their decision. Trey was determined to name their kid Luigi. Fortunately, the couple was able to convince him otherwise. “Jada and I look at each other in abject horror, both of us thinking the exact same thing: Have you ever met an (expletive) named Luigi?“, the Bright actor said.

Eventually, Trey named their dog Luigi and picked Christopher for Jaden. Will picked Jaden and Jada chose Syre. And that’s how Jaden got his name – Jaden Christopher Syre Smith. After Will, now his wife has also signed a deal to release a tell-all memoir about her life and experiences. Although her memoir is still unnamed, hers will give fans a sneak peek into her troubled upbringing. The book will also reportedly dive into her complex marriage with the Independence Day star.
