Stranger Things season 4 will premiere in four days, on May 27, and while it isn’t the show’s last season (that honor belongs to the already-greenlit season 5), it certainly seems like it.

The new season will include nine humongous episodes. We’ve observed it previously, but it’s generally only a small increase, 5-15 minutes more most of the time.  However, Episodes 1 through 6 of Season 4 is each roughly an hour and 15 minutes long on average. Episode 7 clocks in at 1 hour and 38 minutes. 1 hour and 25 minutes for Episode 8. Episode 9 clocks in at 2 hours and 30 minutes.

So what is the people’s verdict on it? Do they love the extended runtime? Here are some of the tweets regarding the long runtime of season 4.

The Stranger Things fandom clearly seems divided on the length of the episodes. Some are apprehensive that creators at Netflix might be making the same mistakes as Game of Thrones did. But we will have to wait and see if that’s the case or not?

Can a movie be in the works?

There has been an increasing trend among shows to conclude the stories not in the last episode but with a movie. Peaky Blinders and The Last Kingdom both have done this. And it wouldn’t be surprising if Netflix chose to do it with Stranger Things as well.

As of now, there is no news of a movie. But there isn’t also a confirmed announcement that the storyline will conclude with the fifth season. Seeing how Netflix split the seasons of Ozark and Stranger Things, it wouldn’t be unusual if they commission a movie to increase their gains from the show.
