“Is it Henry Cavill?”- ‘Shazam! 2’ Actor Asher Angel Justifies the Infamous Headless Superman Cameo in the First Film and How It Foreshadowed the Future of DCU
Right before the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, actor Asher Angel revealed a crucial detail about the Superman cameo in the first film. Although the sequel could have included the fan-favorite Superman, Henry Cavill. But because of the failure in the first film, and the changes that the new DC bosses made, it did not become possible. What did happen instead was the headless cameo of Superman in the first film, which the Shazam! actor justified recently.
On the 17th of March, Shazam! Fury of The Gods hit the theaters. While people are hyped about the film, actors Asher Angel and Jack Dylan Grazer talked about the Superman cameo with CinemaBlend. They both admitted they liked the cameo. Angel even shared how it would have been helpful to the new DC bosses. “Is it Henry Cavill?” said Angel while talking to CinemaBlend about the future of Superman. They revealed, when they were shooting the cameo, Cavill was not sure if he wanted to be a part of it. Thus, they made it a faceless Superman.

However, fans were wondering if it was The Witcher star or if was he coming back. Unfortunately, we never saw him return to the universe until in Black Adam. The actors said it now made sense as they were also curious about who the next Superman is going to be. They connected the cameo to the recent circumstances at the DCEU.

As soon as James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC Studios, they axed many fan-favorite actors and characters. Because they officially announced the departure of the British actor, it is unlikely that Cavill would make a comeback anytime soon. James Gunn even made it officially clear the studio hired him way before they took over the DCU. He even revealed there was never a contract between the 39-year-old actor and the studio. Therefore, it made sense if they cut him off.
