“I’d come back from boot camp or something”- ‘Stranger Things’ Star Sadie Sink on Her Experience on the Set of Darren Afronosky’s ‘The Whale’

Stranger Things introduced us to the redhead, Sadie Sink, whom we would soon grow to love. Introduced in the second season, she soon became a part of the gang. Max went through some major character development and Sink was able to convey her complicated emotions on screen perfectly. Particularly in the show’s last season, the spotlight was on Max, who was grieving her brother. 

She also starred in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well and soon after bagged a role in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale. In a recent interview with The Backstage, the actress shared her experience working with the Mother! director and her co-star, Branden.

The Whale was a transformative experience for Sadie Sink

For Sadie Sink, it was an experience that pushed her to become a better actress. The experience helped her to gain even more confidence in herself and her craft, which definitely helped her while shooting for Stranger Things season 4.

When I returned to ‘Stranger Things,’ it was like I’d come back from boot camp or something. It gave me a level of confidence that has stuck with me since,” she said.

After the filming wrapped up for The Whale, she came back to Stranger Things to film the last season. And she quickly found out that she was able to get into the skin of Max without much effort. Despite the heavy scenes in season 4, she was able to tap into her character’s consciousness very easily.

The 20-year-old has played Max for the better part of her career. She feels a sense of attachment to the character now. The Duffers allowed her to tap into the sides of her character that only Sadie had known so far.

The All Too Well actress plays Ellie, the estranged daughter of Branden Fraser in The Whale. The film will arrive in the theaters on December 4. However, both Sink and Fraser’s performances in the film have already received positive reviews at the 79th Venice International Film Awards.
