How Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes Kept the Running Gag Around the World-Famous Detective Alive in Enola Holmes
The sequel to Netflix’s much-anticipated original Enola Holmes graced our screens recently and everyone cannot help but talk about it. Within a few days of its release, Enola Holmes 2 became one of the most-watched shows on the streaming platforms and proved to be an extremely successful project for the streaming platform. While the fact that the film became one of the most watched shows is surely astounding, it is not surprising considering the star-studded ensemble of actors that the film features, including Henry Cavill and Millie Bobby Brown.
Enola Holmes first made its way to the streaming platform back in 2020. After two years, the sequel has finally released. As we all know, Sherlock Holmes is one of the prominent characters of the film is a very popular character and has a vast history of its own. Even if you have watched Enola Holmes 2, chances are that you might have missed a running Sherlock gag.

The running Sherlock joke that Henry Cavill kept running in Enola Holmes 2
Over the years, we have seen plenty of shows revolving around Sherlock Holmes. And one of them was Enola Holmes. While season one mainly followed the story of Brown AKA Enola, the second season gave us a deeper insight into the life of Sherlock. And Cavill kept the Sherlock gag running similar to BBC TV series Sherlock, where in Benedict Cumberbatch starred as the detective. In the BBC’s series, the detective keeps forgetting the first name of another popular character from the show, Greg Lestrade.

He called him with various names, starting with G, such as Gavin, Graham, and Giles, but never with his correct name. Similarly, even in the Enola Holmes version of Lestrade, when Lestrade visits Sherlock in his flat, he tells the detective that his first name is Graydon. However, similar to the previous versions of the character, Cavill is likely to forget his name.

Apart from the Lestrade gag, the sequel even gave us an insight into Sherlock’s substance abuse and addiction. A scene in the sequel featured Enola helping a drunk Sherlock out from a pub. And as per rumors, the post credit scene of Enola Holmes 2 indicated a possible spin-off for Henry Cavill.
