A timeline of Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney’s friendship
The former American actress and the stylist shared their individual intellectuals and bonded in Toronto, as mentioned earlier. From sharing yoga classes and Pilates, they went on to become firm friends. This was stated by a Royal Expert Kate Nicholl in her views about the budding friendship. According to her, Meghan really looked up to Jessica as a talented person, a wonderful mother, and a great friend.
Over the years, their friendship grew to be so strong that the former actress took to her Instagram to post a holiday snap with Jessica. The caption read, “Happy wife happy life #fakehoneymoon.” This came three months in the same year prior to Prince Harry making his relationship with Markle public.
Following their relationship that Harry confirmed in the previous year, Markle made her first Royal appearance before the public. She was spotted at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September. Reportedly, Jessica and her husband welcomed the couple to their safe abode with much warmth and comfort. This brought both the couples closer on a familiar level.
The one news that made headlines amongst the royals in 2018 was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s dream royal wedding. As the actress had then escalated to become the Duchess of Sussex, Jessica’s twin sons helped her with the Givenchy veil. Picturing the same in the St George’s Chapel and posted on her Instagram handle stating, “Proud friend, Proud mom.”
The year was once again marked by the newlywed couple’s first royal tour. While Harry held Meghan’s hand all the way through Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, Jessica accompanied the two in an “unofficial capacity.”
Followed by the exquisite royal outing, the couple announced their first pregnancy with Prince Archie. To celebrate the good news across the kingdom, the Royal family threw an extravagant party. The list had Jessica as one of the most notable guests in the palace. Other significant names who made their appearance at the party were Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Gayle King, Abigail Spencer, and so on.
In the same year, the fashionista was interviewed by Harper’s Bazaar. They asked her for some insights into her royal friendship. However, preserving their integrity, Jessica had refused stating anything about her dearest friend. “My life is an open book, but there’s always a few secret pages in the back that nobody will be able to read,” said Jessica.
This year marked the first rift between the two friends. All of it started surrounding a scandal where Sasha Exter allegedly called Jessica out on grounds of racism. Apologizing for the same, Jessica mentioned Markle stating that she has closely speculated on how racism always plays at the “front and center.” This apparently went a bit too offensive for the Duchess. Sources narrated that Meghan Markle started to distance herself from Jessica over the controversy.
As we saw it coming, Jessica found herself at the receiving end of never-ending controversies. Amidst the same, she took to Instagram and posted the 2018 wedding picture of Markle with a nostalgic caption. However, she deleted the same just after three days of uploading it. Although she explained herself later in the stories, she could not really get out of the scandal.
These couple of years proved to be a bit too hard for the Duke and his Duchess. No one is unaware of the heavy backlash that Markle had to face from the palace and like-minded subjects. However, as her royal life took a toll, Mulroney showed up to lend her much-needed support for Markle.
