Will Smith revealed the traumatic part of filming Emancipation
Because of the sufferings of our ancestors, we are living the good life right now. The same would go for our future generations. While filming Emancipation, the filmmaker wanted to showcase the ugly truth of the era. How brutally the colonizers beat slaves, and how much in pain they were. Therefore, when asked, Smith revealed his emotions openly. He said, “Getting called the N-word, a hundred times a day by really good actors, it was rough.”

Listening to curse words can make anyone feel uncomfortable. The actors along with the whole team had to face it to create a truthful and long-lasting effect on the viewers. It was extremely difficult for everyone to recreate the scenes while being at the actual place where it all happened in the past was brutal. Not only these things but also the weather, the subject, and everything else were also triggering for everyone.

But to sustain the energy of the film, the team was ready to go deep into the ugliness of the truth.
