It has been more than three years since Netflix brought Sex Education on board. Despite the initial hesitance, the series went on to become a global hit as it created magic with its honest and inclusive approach to an otherwise taboo subject. Since its premiere, the Laurie Nunn directorial has released three successful seasons. A feat restricted to only the best of the best Netflix shows. However, after more than a year of painful silence since the release of Sex Education Season 3, fans have received a bitter-sweet update.

Apart from the in-the-face intimate yet surprisingly cute scenes that the show has, an obvious element that is evident from the very first episodes of the series is that it comes from the heart. Therefore, it would only be right for the creator herself to announce the final season through a heartwarming letter to fans. What no one was expecting, however, was a teaser of the final season on the same day. But unpredictability is Sex Education‘s middle name. And essentially, its name.

Netflix dropped the Sex Education Season 4 trailer with commendable wordplay as it announced, ‘It’s time to finish!‘ The merely one-minute-long trailer opened with its main lead, Otis Milburn, being a bundle of nerves as he introduces what we are assuming is his clinic to Cavendish Sixth Form College.

Not only does the new season feature a change of scenery as the characters graduate, but it also introduces new and vital characters. A fan favorite, Dan Levy, will make his way into the series and presumably our hearts as Thomas Molloy, followed by Jodie Turner-Smith. Levy, Smith, and the rest of the cast will be meeting us in Sex Education Season 4 on the 21st of September.

A few seconds into the teaser and Otis declares, “I spend a lot of my free time thinking about s*x.” This is followed by a trademark Sex Education montage, with various characters going through the ups and downs of teenage intimacy. Much like how fans are going through a rollercoaster of emotions as they take in the news.

Fans react to Sex Education season 4 teaser

While the news of this being the last of the best has saddened fans, the teaser has given them enough to push off the tears until the final episode. And one major boost of dopamine has been the ample screen time that Ruby gets in the teaser. Played by Mimi Keene, Ruby’s character development comes second only to that of Otis.

Given how Ruby and Otis are still attending the same college, fans are excited to see them together again. But just like how one man’s treasure is the other man’s trash, Otis and Maeve’s shippers are sobbing at the distance between the two characters.

While each character has attained their own passionate fanbase, when it comes to Sex Education, the story is king. Therefore, fans are seated to see what the talented creators have cooked for the finale of this beloved series.
