Canceling fan-favorite shows have been frustrating fans for quite some time now. Recently, Netflix canceled shows like Warrior Nun, Inside Job, 1899, First Kill, and more leaving fans disappointed. The CEOs of the streaming giant, Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, opened up about the reasons for the cancelation. Their explanation again made the fandom disappointed.

The cancelation of the shows has been so disheartening for fans that they started hashtags on social media platforms. #savewarriornun, #savefirstkill, and many more have been widely circulating on the surface of the internet. Amidst these frustrated fans, the Netflix CEOs, Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, defended the decision of canceling the shows.

The CEOs defend the cancelation of Warrior Nun and other canceled shows

The CEOs, in their interview with Bloomberg, said they had never canceled a successful show. They pointed at the Korean series, Squid Game, as an example of a successful show. Sarandos said it was highly unlikely to see a show as successful as Squid Game in a very short time. They also mentioned it was a matter of budget. Sarandos and Peters believe that the key to keeping a show running is that small-budget shows should be able to reach a small audience. While the big budget shows should be able to reach a larger audience. If the shows do it well, they can sustain.

The canceled shows like Warrior Nun were introduced nicely but had a big budget. Moreover, they were able to reach a very small audience, and thus the streaming giant had to cancel them. Appreciating the larger library of the American OTT platform, the CEOs also said the audience would get everything they want on just one platform itself with the best quality content. However, their comments and justifications left fans enraged.

Fans said they would never watch a new show unless they’d know in advance Netflix wouldn’t cancel them. While some of them called out the streaming platform for canceling the shows with a weak justification, others expressed their disappointment with Netflix.
