Some incidents just never leave our memories no matter how hard we try to forget them. One such memory of the Oscars is the slapping incident where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock as he made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. However, after the incident, Rock did not talk much publicly about the incident. But when he did, it broke the records on Netflix.

Chris Rock: Selective Outrage landed on Netflix on the 4th of March. The comedy special became the most-streamed comedy special in the first week itself. Since its opening, the special jumped 48% with a viewership of 798M viewing minutes. And thus, it secured the 9th spot on Nielsen’s overall streaming charts for that week, reported Deadline.

At the Oscars 2022, the Men in Black actor could not control his anger and slapped the host of the evening in front of everyone present. However, Smith also won the Best Actor Award later for his performance in King Richard. Despite apologizing to his former friend for the outburst, Rock refused to talk about it. He kept his feelings under wraps until one day he just blasted on his comedy special where he addressed the topic in his comedy special.

He put forward his point of view of what happened at the event and how he felt about it. While talking about the incident, Rock also talked about other things in the industry, too. He touched upon many things while keeping the slapping incident at the center of his piece. People enjoyed the comedy special which made it the record breaker on the American OTT platform.
