‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 Is Finally Passing the Baton to the New Generation, and We’re Here for It
A reboot of a classic teen film, The Karate Kid, with a completely modern outlook, seemed like rubbish and a comical idea five years back. The Karate Kid was a classic story of Daniel LaRusso beating his high-school bully Johnny Lawrence in a renowned Karate competition. The prospect of the iconic duo of Daniel and Johnny seeing each other 34 years after the happenings in the action-drama film didn’t go well with many fans.
However, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald did the unthinkable as they managed to hit it out of the park with Cobra Kai. The series is now one of the most loved shows on Netflix and is all ready to release Cobra Kai season 5. While the fans are enthralled to see the fifth edition, there are some key changes that we can expect in the show moving forward.

Cobra Kai season 5 to veer off Johnny and Daniel rivalry?
Since the very beginning of Cobra Kai, the makers projected the story with Johnny as the main protagonist following a leap of 34 years. Since the series depicted Daniel in a bad light, the fans become more sympathetic towards Johnny. The Netflix show is a hilarious yet drama-laced take on two grownup men in their 40s still continuing their rivalry from school. However, the rivalry between Johnny and Daniel has now become repetitive, and both the audience and showrunners are ready to pass on the baton to the new generation.

Apparently, Cobra Kai season 5 will show more of the journey of the younger generation of The Karate Kid, including Miguel, Tory, Robby, Sam, and Hawk per Ralph Macchio in this interview. The younger kids have enough depth and potential in their characters to take the show forward without Daniel and Johnny.

There are several things that the makers can focus on, including the rivalry between Miguel and Robby, Sam’s loss against Tory in the tournament, and much more. Meanwhile, it will also be exciting to see other original Karate Kid characters like Chozen, Mike, Terry Silver, and others meeting Daniel and Johnny.
