Avatar 2’s Huge Budget Beats Netflix’s Star-Studded ‘Red Notice’ Featuring The Rock, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot by Massive $1 Billion
Netflix had made headlines when it acquired Ryan Reynolds’s action comedy film, starring Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson as well, last year. Red Notice was meant for a theatrical release but due to the pandemic, it moved directly to Netflix. It still holds the title for the most expensive Netflix movie. The film followed an FBI agent, John Harley, who had to team up with a thief, Nolan Booth, to catch the notorious Bishop. Although the figures are huge, it is a measly amount when compared to the massive budget of Avatar 2.
Avatar sequels have huge a budget of $1 billion
After a long wait, nearly after more than a decade, the biggest grossing film of all time, Avatar is getting a sequel. Avatar 2 titled, Avatar: The Way of Water recently released a visually striking trailer. Director James Cameron has surely raised the bar with the sequel. Its first look was unveiled at the Cinema on Showcase in Las Vegas.

The sequels of the 2009 movie were already in the works right after the release of the original and they reportedly have a budget of about $1billion, combined. We are going to get four more films from the franchise. Hence, if we break it down, each film cost around $250 million. The original film also had a similar budget of $240 million. It’s still a lot more than Red Notice‘s production cost of $200 million.

When will Avatar 2 release?
After 13 years in the making, the film is finally going to release on December 16, 2022. The film was originally going to arrive in 2020 but the pandemic delayed the release. Avatar 3, 4, and 5 will arrive in 2024, 2026, and 2028, respectively.
James Cameron returned to the director’s seat for the sequel. The original cast including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michele Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver are all reprising their roles. Also joining them are Kate Winslet, David Thewlis, Vin Diesel, and Michelle Yeoh.

Cameron has previously directed Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Aliens, and Titanic.
