Just as Emma Stone consistently explores diverse and challenging roles in her acting career, Netflix, as a streaming giant, continually strives to deliver innovative and boundary-pushing content with each release. And as the actress returns to the limelight after a much-needed break with a stellar performance in Poor Things, the streaming giant has decided to honor her legacy by adding one of her best and most successful movies to the catalog.

While Netflix likes to bask in praises by bringing to fans gems that went unnoticed at the box office, for a change, it released one of the most successful and critically acclaimed high school movies starring Emma Stone. And it is not Easy A.

From The Half of It to The Kissing Booth, there is no dearth of high school movies helmed by Netflix. While some are unconventional and nuanced in their approach to complex topics, others are just a modern tale of high school love. However, the streamer lacked the classic loud, raunchy, and non-stop laughter ride of a high school movie. A gap that it graciously filled with the $171,000,000 Emma Stone starrer, Superbad.

Superbad, contrary to its name, was super good for not just the box office but also Emma Stone. With its roaring collection over an approximately $20 million budget, it added seven lives to the high school genre which many thought was dead.

The Oscar-winning actress through the years has proved that she is not one to be confined to a certain genre. However, in the early 2010s, the actress was ruling the comedy genre single-handedly. Be it a zombie apocalypse movie with humor elements or a one-of-a-kind female-centric high school movie with a bizarre plot, Emma Stone would be there, by hook or by crook.

The actress could not have climbed the ladder so suavely had it not been for the blockbuster success of Superbad. Following its release in 2007, Emma Stone scored one of her most loved roles as Olive Penderghast in the high school comedy, Easy A. With a budget of $8 million, the movie did wonders worth $75 million at the box office. While it may seem like an easy feat now, a female-led high school movie wreaking havoc at the box office was quite the cinematic phenomenon.
