Ryan Reynolds may have just aced at funny movies, but the actor certainly treasures his older times. The creative genius managed to even turn a superhero movie funny by adding a hint of humor to the character while still having him taken seriously. But the journey of coming from humble beginnings to star in A-list movies was a long win. Despite starring in more than 60 movies, he once revealed a particular type of entertainment that he found was more fun to work with.

Reynolds has done anything from docuseries to movies. Like many other actors, the Canadian-born talent also started his career with a sitcom. Decades later, he revealed the one thing he would like to do again and the reason behind it.

For most actors, being on the big screen is their dream come true. Ryan Reynolds is also one of them, but he still prefers comedy on the smaller screens. Back in 2021, during a podcast interview with SmartLess, the actor spoke to co-host Jason Bateman about acting, career, and more. It was during this that Bateman asked him whether he would ever like to be part of sitcoms again. “I would love to do another sitcom, best job I’ve ever had in my life,” replied the Ted actor.

He went on to call it the “greatest job,” with limited working hours and a live audience. Upon coming from Canada, the actor tried to join the Groundlings group by just walking in, until he realized he wasn’t allowed to do so. Groundlings is a lot like Who’s Line is It Anyway where people practice their skills on improvised comedy.

But he found another way to start acting in his favorite genre

How the actor got leading roles in comedy sitcoms

The rejection from Groundlings led him to hire an agent who got him his first lead in an American sitcom. It was none other than the 1998 sitcom Two Guys and a Girl. Although he had also been the star of a Canadian one called Hillside. Today, the actor is busy with a line of films, while occasionally dropping docuseries like Welcome to Wrexham. While fans still love his comedic gold on the screen, he hopes to return to sitcoms someday again.
