The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle, are leaving no stone unturned to express their sadness over the demise of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. The former working royals were there in the United Kingdom when the monarch was taking her last breath and have decided to extend their stay in the country.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is also ensuring that she participates in all the mourning activities by canceling her personal and professional commitments. It was just a few days back that she suspended her Spotify podcast. And now it is learned that Meghan will not be appearing on the red carpet on September 28.

Meghan Markle to miss the Variety Magazine gala 

The United Kingdom will be seeing a nine-day mourning period following Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral on September 19. In light of the same, Meghan Markle has conveyed her absence from the gala that is being conducted on September 28 to celebrate Variety Magazine’s September issue, Power of Women. 

The event will feature some of the powerful women of the current era, including Hillary Clinton, Malala, and Oprah Winfrey. Though Meghan will not be in attendance, Variety has decided to continue with their original plan of honoring her at the event. 

Meanwhile, the magazine has also delayed the revelation of its September cover featuring Meghan Markle for a later date. They made an announcement on Twitter stating, “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was chosen as one of this year’s stellar honorees. The Duchess’ cover will be postponed to a later date, out of respect for the recent passing of Queen.“

Following the demise of the Queen, not much was expected from Harry and Meghan, as they parted ways with the Royal family two years back in a dramatic fashion. However, in an unexpected turn of events, they are diligently taking part in all the activities. 

The couple surprised the public by appearing alongside William and Kate for a walkout among the crowd near Windsor Castle. They were also present to receive the Queen’s coffin at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
