Faith or not, Kanye West made people groove to his Sunday Service choir. Aside from his mainstream songs, West put out creations through his musical phase along with his Sunday Service Group. The singer had connections not only in music but also in the fashion industry. One of his closest friends in that industry was former fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

Ye being a closer friend, was affected by his death majorly and seemed comforted by his own music and religion during that time. Apart from attending his funeral, the singer dedicated one of his choir sessions to remembering his late friend. In a surprise, the ‘Donda’ singer actually sang an Adele song.

Ye and his Sunday Service Group quickly became a rave amongst both fans and nonfans. It was a refreshing outlook from his usual music, and West even gave his own touch to an Adele song. He took to his Donda Live website to give out a live performance of himself and his choir. “Go easy on me, father / I am still your child,” said the lyrics from her 30 albums. While Adele’s original version was classic enough, Ye gave it a hundred more voices through his choir. “In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, creative director of ‘Donda,” was a message that kept popping as the video played.

Abloh was working for Louis Vuitton at the time and had begun his own fashion company as well. At the age of 41, he passed away after fighting a battle with cancer for a long time. He and Ye had been friends ever since their internship together at Fendi during the younger phase of their life.

What happened to Ye and his choir group?

Ye’s Sunday Service Group became a part not of his life, but also that of Kim Kardashian and their children. They would perform in Church or give live sessions, although his controversial remarks and divorce meant this work took a back seat. Thereafter, there were reports of the choir group trying to sue him for non-payment and mistreatment during these meets. Although Ye decided to solve the issue outside the court. Today, he does not remain active with them anymore, but their creations still remain a favorite phase amongst the fans.
