The Tinseltown newbie, Walker Scobell, struck gold a couple of years back when he landed his debut role opposite one of Hollywood’s finest, Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project. What ensued was a side-splitting sci-fi joyride brought to life through the comedic synergy of this dynamic duo. As the uproarious action comedy found its audience, viewers were convinced that the 14-year-old’s acting career was certainly going places. As audiences set eyes on Scobell’s Percy Jackson portrayal yesterday, those suspicions were confirmed. 

Through his third and most recent project, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the young star has proven to be a comedy legend once again. 

The reflection of Ryan Reynolds in Scobell’s Percy Jackson

As a charming rookie to the world of acting, Scobell stepped into the shoes of Percy Jackson as a refreshingly endearing face. The Disney+ series showcased this rendition of the demigod character as an awkward teen who accidentally stumbled upon his supernatural abilities. Amidst the chaos of dealing with bullies and decoding Greek mythology, Scobell narrated his character’s storyline through a lighthearted voice-over. The reflection of Ryan Reynolds’ quirky comedic style in the 14-year-old’s hilariously delivered anecdotes was unmissable.  

In many ways, Scobell also mirrored his The Adam Project character’s whimsical personality through Percy. Similar to how Scobell’s youthful exuberance met Reynolds’ trademark wit in the 2022 flick, Scobell was paired up with a partner in crime, Grover, in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. If his acting in the Disney+ series is any indication, the young one’s future is bound to hold just as much stardom as Reynolds’ illustrious career.

In his saga as Poseidon’s son, the young protagonist still has a long way to go. 

What can fans expect from Percy Jackson and The Olympians next?

Rooted in Rick Riordan’s novel series by the same name, the demigod’s journey in the show has only begun. For now, Percy is left grappling with an accusation by Zeus, who believes the youngster stole his prized lightning bolt. It is now expected that the child demigod will continue his efforts to prove Zeus wrong in the next episode to come on December 27. So far, only the first two episodes of the fantasy-driven show are out.

Even so, its ratings are going through the roof having garnered a 96% approval on Rotten Tomatoes already. Judging by the visual effects used to bring New York and the picturesque summer camp to life, the heavily budgeted series may just have put all those funds to good use. Well, it certainly looks like a promising series with a self-discovery arc worthy of such hype.
