Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Emerge Major Players in SAG Relief Fund With a Million Dollar Donation
The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes that deal with the matters of the city of stars have raised many hows and whys. It has certainly affected the schedule in the industry by causing many delays in production. On the other hand, it is a big step to ensure actors and writers get the rightful compensation. What SAG-AFTRA, as it brings Hollywood to a halt by going on a protest, has also done is extract some of the most admirable performances by the very best it has. Unsurprisingly, this includes Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
As his superhero movie finds a comfortable spot alongside the other halted projects on a shelf, Reynolds and his colleagues are recreating Avengers: Endgame minus the special effects as they stand with SAG-AFTRA.

The real reason that has fans empathizing with the SAG-AFTRA protests is the same story of one too many artists who, although have done several acclaimed projects, find themselves penniless. While the low payment was bad, it was still soft padding compared to the hole in their pockets due to the ongoing protests. But fortunately, the industry has its own version of Avengers in the form of top actors like Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck, and more.
Reynolds and Lively are among the top actors that have donated a whopping amount of $1 Million to the SAG relief fund. The fund will ensure that the performers who live from one payment to another do not go homeless as long as the union is standing strong.
While the $1 Million donation is formidable, the Deadpool actor and his wife have a history of showing up at the most dire of times, even if it means the postponement of his multi-million dollar dream project.

On the surface level, the strike means a delay in Ryan Reynolds’ movie, Deadpool 3. A project that required him years of string pulling and Hugh Jackman pleading. While it is now delayed, many speculate if the SAG-AFTRA is not happy with the negotiations, it means a series of no-business months for actors. Ultimately, we are looking at a major delay from Deadpool 3‘s release date set in 2024. But there is more to the problem.
If the protests do not stop soon, $1 Million even if donated by each major actor can only do so much for a union representing 160,000 members. It is unlikely that the Avengers will assemble again to pitch in such a massive amount while their own dream projects keep getting delayed.
