Russell Peters Follows Ryan Reynolds Into Being a Playmaker With a Formidable Wrexham AFC Rival
Since he ran away from his little town in Vancouver, in an attempt to what he describes as getting away from home, Ryan Reynolds has had several opportunities to establish a legacy. Be it as the endearing high school sweetheart in his early days or the loose-mouthed but equally endearing maverick as an X-Man. And while he has proved to be quite the enemy for erasers both these times, all pale in comparison to the improvement he has brought about at Wrexham AFC alongside his partner in crime, Rob McElhenney.
Marvel can make an equally quirky character and rom-coms can come up with someone just as endearing, but try as they may, it is not every day you get to hear that someone is going to replicate Wrexham AFC’s Hollywood-style revival. But that was before comedian, Russell Peters ironically stopped joking around and convinced the best of the football and FIFA realm to conduct the Reynolds-ification of another football club.

Russell Peters is now shaking a leg with Steve Nijjar and Morris Pagniello at the Racing City Group. Unlike Wrexham AFC, however, which was a treasure of the Welsh people, the Racing City group owns several clubs, the most important of which is Racing de Madrid in Spain.
Following this entry, friendlies will get truly intense for the red dragons as now not just the players but the owner, Reynolds, himself, might be in for a competition with a fellow Canadian.
With an upcoming Welcome to Wrexham AFC style documentary, it seems Peters is steadily tracing the footprints left behind by the Welsh club to succeed.

With a similar multi-million dollar investment and a vision to bring an antique football club back to life, Wrexham AFC and Racing de Madrid have a mansion in the name of grounds of similarities. But this will not prove to be a problem for either of them. It is only recently that Reynolds and McElhenney basked in the joy of promotion and Racing de Madrid has only now come into the news because of its owners.
Perhaps it will be easier for the stars to align than for the two clubs’ leagues to play a match anytime soon. But if Peters’ estimation of a five-year revival period is apt, then strap yourself in for a Wrexham AFC vs Racing de Madrid 2028 match during the season friendlies.
