The Netflix hit series Stranger Things and some of Ryan Reynolds‘ best works have one thing in common. And that is the very accomplished director and producer, Shawn Levy. Besides leading Stranger Things to immense success, the Canadian filmmaker has also co-produced Reynolds’ Free Guy and The Adam Project. With several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations to his name, he has cemented his standing as one of Hollywood’s best. 

Not to forget that he was also chosen to produce Marvel’s much-awaited third installation of Deadpool. And now that Marvel has announced another Avengers flick to come out in 2027, the online ecosphere is buzzing with speculations about it. Recently a post regarding fans’ demand for Shawn Levy to produce Avengers: Secret Wars appeared on X, formerly known as Twitter. 

At the moment, some Marvel projects, including Deadpool 3, are facing delays due to the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strike. While fans await these flicks, Levy’s supporters are building hype for him to inherit the Avengers project. Considering the skillset he displayed through Stranger Things alone, Marvel fanatics are bound to settle for only the best. 

In the comments section, many users agreed with what was said in the post. According to them, among all the directors that Marvel is currently considering for this job, Shawn Levy is the best fit. Especially when compared with another Marvel director.

Twitterati picks the Stranger Things director over Sam Raimi

Among other filmmakers, another name that is standing to compete against Levy for Avengers: Secret Wars is Sam Raimi. As the director of the Spider-Man franchise, he had delivered three of Marvel’s superhero picks in the past. But for fans, the 63-year-old will not do. Like Ryan Reynolds did a few days back, many wrote in support of the 55-year-old’s “legacy“.

One user argued that Levy’s skills were best seen in the Night At The Museum franchise and not Stranger Things, whereas another fan felt it was the opposite way around.

Meanwhile, some Marvel fans were not concerned about who does the job as long as the final result will be good.

With a stellar record of superhero flicks that uphold the studio’s reputation, Marvel will surely pick the best for the 2027 flick too. But that will not stop netizens from voicing their demands in the meantime.
