Five Brand New Series Announced by Netflix UK to Be Produced Soon Around the UK

Time to roll your ‘R’s as Netflix UK has announced five new series which will start shooting in 2022. We can understand Netflix’s passion for the British series after the success of After Life, Sex Education, and The Crown. These, of course, are the popular ones. Other hidden gems might not have the viewership, but have the backing of the critics.

The five new series announced by Netflix UK are a beautiful mix of different genres. Thus, fans of various genres have something to look forward to in 2022.

Supacell

The six-episode series focuses on a bunch of normal Black people from South London, who suddenly evolve superpowers. Although the series deals with superpowers, Netflix has classified it as a sci-fi series. Thus, fans can expect a Stranger Things type of series.

Blue Story director and actor, Rapman will write and direct Supacell. Mouktar Mohammed will be an executive producer in the series, along with Rapman.

Eric

The thriller follows Vincent, a father who ends up befriending Eric, the monster living under his son’s bed in search of his missing kid. However, Vincent’s search for his son leads to discovering far worse monsters in a corrupted city. Abi Morgan, who is credited with writing The Iron Lady has created and written Eric. Sister, the production company behind Chernobyl will produce Eric.

Kaos

A dark comedy set around the Greek myths will see six humans, all essential to an ancient prophecy, uncover the truth about the gods. Fans of the famous novel franchise Percy Jackson should watch out for this one.

Georgi Banks-Davies will direct the eight-episode series. Charlie Covell will act as a writer who has previously worked on The End of the F***ing World. Davies and Covell will also be the executive producers of the series.

The Fuck It Bucket

A 17-year-old Mia, after a tedious battle against anorexia, finally gets discharged from the hospital. But only to realize she is missing out on life and has to catch up with her peers by making a bucket list. Left Bank Pictures, the production house behind The Crown will work on The Fuck It Bucket. Ripley Parker will be the writer for the series.

One Day

The story revolves around two friends who meet on July 15 every year after they first met at university in 1988. As they share their ordeals every year, they realize they relate to each other more than anyone else.

A 2011 film adaptation based on David Nicholl’s bestselling novel features Anne Hathaway. But this time around, we are getting a full-fledged series. BAFTA-winner Nicole Taylor heads the writing team with Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel, and Bijan Sheibani.
