The film begins with Abby’s early upbringing when she was just seven years old. When Abby observes a kidnapping, she is seen roaming about in a wooded area. She witnesses two people assaulting a youngster wearing an eyepatch and stuffing him into a car.
It takes place at the top of the hill, and it is visible to everybody. However, she is the only one who has seen it, and she also witnesses the automobile driving away. The film then follows Abby twenty-five years after the tragedy, at the age of 32.
Abby is still shaken and troubled by the fact that she saw a kidnapping, and the tragedy has left an indelible mark on her. The film is a pursuit of Abby trying to uncover the secrets of the kidnapping disturbing discoveries she makes along the way.

They say truth is stranger than fiction and Disappearance at Clifton Hill just proves it right. In fact, the narrative of the film is inspired by filmmaker Albert Shin’s own life.
His parents, like Abby, owned a hotel in Niagara Falls, and he, too, had childhood recollections of witnessing a kidnapping. When Shin’s parents first immigrated to Canada from South Korea, they owned the Niagara Gateway Motel on Clifton Hill. The family was mostly situated in Toronto when Shin was born, although they visited Clifton Hill on a regular basis.

Is the film worth watching?
There are a lot of story twists in this engaging film, and they’re all well-executed. However, they tend to detract from the film’s finest feature, which is Albert Shin’s director and co-dark, writer’s dread-filled atmosphere, which he maintains practically throughout.
Nonetheless, “Disappearance” may provide satisfying thrills and shivers for the patient or forgiving lovers of quirky thrillers. It also decent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb. On Rotten Tomatoes it has a 74% TOMATOMETER rating and IMDb has given the film a 5.5% start rating out of 10.
