Netflix isn’t skipping a beat when it comes to delivering its content. It offers everything under its umbrella, from horror shows to murder mysteries, documentaries to musicals. Netflix recently released a cartoon series based on Cuphead, a popular 2017 video game. The show is called The Cuphead Show! The game’s graphic aesthetic is meticulously crafted, with hand-drawn animation cells that harken back to the original Looney Tunes. They charge players with collecting soul contracts for the Devil in this game. Walt Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer Studios’ work influenced the makers’ Chad and Jared Moldenhauer of Studio MDHR.

Studio MDHR and King Features Syndicate produced the American-Canadian animated online television series for Netflix. The Cuphead Show is a compilation of stand-alone cartoons that have a lot of fun splashing around in the tropes of the era its animation was inspired by.

The Cuphead Show Plot synopsis

Cuphead and Mugman- the playable characters in the original game, named after the drinkware that makes up their heads- and their adventures on the Inkwell Isles are the focus of the animated series. They are always looking for adventure and enjoyment. The show combines nostalgic pleasures with a healthy dosage of the shivers- especially when a foe, The Devil himself, appears on the scene to play with our heroes.

The video begins with Mugman reading the carnival’s name aloud, terrified by the blatant use of Evil. He tries to warn his brother about the impending evil, but Cuphead is preoccupied with a game called Soulball. Then comes a villainous song about how people enjoy carnival by the self-proclaimed ‘King of the Underworld,’ The Devil. Just as he was raving about his obsession with collecting souls, his subordinate interrupts him and informs him that the soul count has ceased because Cuphead has won. This enrages The Devil, and he chases Cuphead and his brother Mughead, igniting almost the entire carnival. This gives the brothers a way out of The Devil’s clutches.
