It is a common practice to adapt books to television series or movies. However, it is unheard of for companies to strike a deal with a first-time writer that involves triple digits. And even unusual for A-listers to add their name to the project. But such is the case for the upcoming project starring Henry Cavill.
The man is known for starring in famous projects like The Witcher and Mission Impossible. He is in talks to star in the adaptation of Warhammer 40,000. This raises the question – isn’t he taking too much of a risk attaching himself to a project like this? Who is this author, and what is going on?!
Henry Cavill stars in the $200 million dollar adaptation of a mysterious author’s first novel
Argylle is based on first-time author Elly Conway‘s upcoming spy thriller. The book is not out yet, and Apple has already bought the rights to it for $200 million. There are speculations that it is going to kick off a franchise. Apparently, the director Matthew Vaughn, found the manuscript a complete reinvention of the spy genre.
The book was supposed to go on sale last year, but it was postponed to March 30, 2023. However, interestingly no advance copies are available for readers yet. In fact, there is no Amazon page for the book. There is but one German language Kindle version that was slated for a release on January 10.
Even more mysterious is the author behind the book. She is even more elusive than Kanye West has been for the past couple of weeks. Ellie Conway is simply a ghost. There is no information available on her on the internet. There is only a two-line bio that states she is a resident of America and is currently working on the next sequel.

Her Instagram account @authorellyconway is empty. The Hollywood Reporter tried to contact her publicist for Ballentine Books and even her agent WME’s Eric Reid but to no avail. But a different spelling of her name Ellie Conway turned up a feature on Random Penguin House and reports of the Apple deal.
There is no release date for the film yet, but there exists a teaser video featuring Dua Lipa dancing with Henry Cavill. The film also stars Ariana DeBose, Bryan Cranston, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Who do you think Elly Conway is?
