Where Have You Seen Captain Angela Ali From ‘Space Force’ Before? Why Does She Look Familiar?
Getting a big break in Hollywood is really difficult. Today, it is hard to imagine our popular stars struggling for even a single shot during their unpopular days. The same has been the case with Space Force fame actor Tawny Newsome that plays the character, Captain Angela Ali. Let us look at some of her past works which have gone unnoticed.
Where have we seen Captain Ali before?

Even though Tawny is a comic genius and has also been a part of Chicago’s famed Second City. However, ironically her first appearance on the silver screen was on not at all funny drama shows. Newsome first appeared on the show Chicago Fire in a 2013 episode as a one-episode character Jen. The following year she made a brief appearance on Crisis as an EMT.
Of course, these parts were very brief and had no life on the show. Nevertheless, they opened an array of opportunities for Tawny, especially allowing her to portray her talent as a rib-tickler. In the next few years, she made on and off appearances on comedy shows such as two broke girls, sketch comedy series Comedy Bang! Bang! and Documentary Now!
Her appearance did not remain bound to tv shows. She also had brief cameos on featurettes like Uncle John, Einstein’s God Model, and It’s All Good in a single year!
Her voice is more popular than her face
You might not have seen Tawny before Space Force, but you must have heard her before.
Apart from acting, Newsome is really into providing her voice for animated movies and takes part in podcasts. She has worked in animated films like Spies in disguise and Netflix‘s Big Mouth. She runs an amazingly good podcast known as Yo, Is This Racist?.
However, her most popular animated role has to be as Beckett mariner in Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Was Tawny’s big break, Space Force?

It is a no-brainer that Space Force is by far the most popular one out of all the credits on Newsome’s resume. But it was not the big break that put her in the limelight. In fact, it was 2016’s SeeSo original series Bajillion Dollar Propertie$.
The show was slightly inspired by property parody shows like Flip or Flop and House Hunters. The show ran for a mere four-season and wrapped up in 2017.

As Tawny is still new to the industry, we hope that her body of work grows as she is one funny moondrummer girl.
