The groundbreaking animation series, Love Death Robots returns for a season 3 on Netflix. Netflix quite recently shared an update on Twitter teasing the series’ return. Although the teaser starts with The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit and promises you a threesome, don’t get fooled. The Crown will come back to the screens before November and the latter was a limited series. Netflix had commissioned a third season way back in 2021 when the second season aired. The first season was definitely longer with 18 episodes. But the streamer cut down the episodes to eight for the second volume, meaning to air the next batch in the third volume.

What fans can expect from Love Death and Robots season 3?
Well, Netflix hasn’t revealed much about the series yet except for the date. You’ll have to wait just a little longer to watch the series. Love Death Robots season 3 will premiere on May 20th. Like its first two seasons, it is expected that the sci-fi anthology series will have a mix of dystopian and Utopian storylines. The series received a lot of fanfare upon the release of its first season due to the distinctive animation styles and subversive storylines.
Netflix took a risk with the sci-fi series
Although the series was groundbreaking and contributed a lot to the resurgence of adult animation, it was still a risk for Netflix. No other networks would have placed their bets on the series. Even though Netflix didn’t have the data to show them whether the risk will be worth it or not, they took on the project anyway.

Creator Tim Miller confessed, “They came back and said, ‘We don’t have any data, we don’t know if it’s gonna tank or explode, but we think it’s cool and we’re willing to take that risk.’
Director of the second season, Jennifer Yu Nelson said, “The first season of LDR was really groundbreaking for a lot of people. And people saw that and thought, ‘This is possible; that level of beauty and quality and just subversive stories was possible. As a fan, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”
