Fans are flocking to stream Top Gun (1986) on Netflix, to catch up for its sequel Top Gun: Maverick, out in the theaters since 24th May’22. If your Maverick fever doesn’t wade or if you are deliberating a fever to go watch it in the cinema, this list might help you. The sun never sets on the classic war genre, so here’s a list of 5 evergreen action-adventure movies to stream on Netflix.

The Adam Project

If you’re still not over the fighter jets whirring in your ears, The Adam Project might just be the movie for you. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo, it makes a great sci-fi, comedy watch.

It follows two Adam Reeds, a 12-year-old one and an adult one; as the latter time travels to the past and teams up with his younger self to save the world. It also happens to be Ryan Reynolds’s favorite movie.

Triple Frontier

Although Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum were the initial choices as actors, Ben Affleck and Oscar Isaac nailed what they were given; also starring Pedro Pascal and Garrett Hedlund, Triple Frontier is a story about Special Force Operatives much like Top Gun: Maverick on Netflix.

The story follows these operatives on a heist, their first time doing something for themselves instead of the country. Since their former designation allows them the knowledge of cash reserves, they utilize it for their own benefit.

Dunkirk

With a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Nolan’s Dunkirk is a multi-starrer. The list of legends in its cast goes on and on. Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Fionn Whitehead, Mark Rylance, and Jack Lowden are some names from the widely-established cast.

The movie captures the hardships of British, French, and Belgian soldiers of World War II, as they try to evacuate the French town of Dunkirk amidst their heavy battle with the German forces.

Hyena Road

Finally, a movie about Canadian soldiers. Directed, produced, and acted in by Paul Gross; Hyena Road is an unsung hero. Other stars include Rossif Sutherland and Clark Johnson.

It follows an intelligence officer who has never killed anybody; and a merciless sniper, who he hires to locate an Afghan warrior, who hasn’t worked as a fighter for years.

Green Zone

Apart from the Bourne series, Green Zone is the only movie that pairs Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass, the director. It stars Greg Kinnear, Amy Ryan, Brendan Gleeson, and Jason Isaacs.

It follows Damon as officer Roy Miller, who leads a team to find weapons of mass destruction in a war-torn Iraq, during the US’ early invasion of its capital Baghdad.
