An engaging and thoroughly innovative spin on the superhero genre, Hancock endures by finding the right rhythm to match its star. Interestingly, the time when the Will Smith starer came out, was a pivotal time for the superhero genre as well. Both MCU and DC launched their very first superhero movies. Before the superhero movie genre grew so much that it required any refutation at all, Hancock was a refutation of the genre years before its time. The good news is that sci-fi fantasy fiction is now available on Netflix.

Everything you need to know about Will Smith starer, Hancock

Based on the script by Vince Gilligan, the movie is directed by Friday Night Lights co-creator Peter Berg. Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron along with Will Smith make up the spectacular cast. The movie is a relief for people who wants something beyond MCU/DC movies. It chronicles the story of a superhero who is widely hated. The titular character is invulnerable, has great combat skills, and even super strengths to save his fellow citizens. However, the poor soul is an alcoholic.

In a turn of events, he meets Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) who promises to restore his impression but on one condition. Hancock will have to go behind bars. While he is in jail, a violent criminal wrecks havoc in the city, hence giving him the opportunity to become a “superhero” again. While he was celebrating his victory with Ray and his wife Mary (Charlize Theron) Hancock discovers another secret. To his surprise, Mary has superpowers too. And the more they stay together, the weaker they get.

As a result, the movie’s concluding sequences have some genuine stakes, but the addition of ancient lore clouds the initial idea of a belligerent superman. It’s remarkable to watch Will Smith take the lead a full ten years before superhero saturation in a world when they constantly offer us every imaginable superhero story.
