Introduced in season 4 of Stranger Things, Eddie Munson was the most admired character by the audience. He had one of the most interesting character arcs in the penultimate season. He made the ultimate sacrifice and was a great soul throughout, so it is natural that many of our main characters, who are young teenagers, would want him as a role model. And it seems like Mike Wheeler made some subtle efforts to impress Eddie in season 4. Here’s one tweet hinting at the same:

In the above tweet, we can spot an electric guitar in Mike’s room. In the previous seasons, we never saw Mike showing any interest in Rock Music. Meanwhile, Eddie was a huge metalhead, and his love for rock music was very evident.

We also saw Munson play one of the biggest metal tunes of the 1980s, Master of Puppets by Metallica. The Upside Down concert created a buzz on the internet, and it was iconic, to say the least. So Mike Wheeler taking guitar lessons to impress Eddie might be a possibility.

Fans have theories on why Mike Wheeler had a guitar in Stranger Things 4

Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard, is a major character in Stranger Things. He is also the leader of The Party. By the spring of 1986, Wheeler became a dedicated member of the Hellfire club along with Dustin and Lucas. Even though Mike and Eddie were both a part of the club, Mike’s interest in rock music was never visible. Mike was neither a part of Eddie’s rock music band Corroded Coffin’s weekly gigs on Tuesdays at the Hideout. So a guitar in his room is surely surprising. There are a few possibilities as to why Mike had a guitar. Here are a few:

Surprisingly, Mike’s appearance in season 4 was different compared to his looks in the earlier seasons. His hairstyle had a strange resemblance to Eddie’s. So, was Mike really copying Eddie to look cool?

An Instagram post showing Finn Wolfhard getting his hairstyle done by stylist Sarah Hindsgaul had an interesting caption: “Trying to look cool as Eddie, but he’s just not there yet. He still is one of our favorite nerds, so it’s important that he looks like an awkward teenager.”

However, with Eddie dead, all theories are in vain, but it would be interesting to watch (if it ever happens) Mike taking Eddie’s place as the lead of Corroded Coffin. What do you think? Was Mike subtly trying to win over Eddie? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
