Watching your favorite actors in their truly iconic roles getting recast has to be the hardest thing a fan has to do. That’s why studios seldom recast an actor after the people have liked them. However, sometimes a recast is more of a necessity than an option. That’s what happened in The Sandman by Netflix.

The Sandman is still far away from being released. But it is still making huge news and is a topic for discussion among the fans. While some disagree with its approach and casting decision, others feel that their steps and justified.

Let us see why the fans are arguing about the recast in The Sandman and if it is good or bad.

Does Tom Ellis being re-casted in The Sandman by Netflix make sense?

Netflix’s take on the Lucifer got widely popular among fans. The show had one of the greatest fan bases in history. There is no denying that. The fans of the show even got the show back from being canceled. That’s how much they loved it and especially loved watching Tom Ellis as the devil himself.

That’s why when in the new The Sandman series Netflix chose to recast Tom. It did not sit well with the fans. They almost took it personally as to why the Welsh actor was not cast in the role.

Even Neil Gaiman, the writer of The Sandman comic himself, had to reply to these questions and give a justification for it. While some do not agree with him still. Others are trying to understand what the studio is trying to do and are applauding it.

It is evident that fans have appreciated non-canon shows such as What If and the Elseworld series. So now that Netflix is trying to do the same, it makes complete sense as more is indeed the merrier.
