When you are an actor who is yet to create their mark in the industry, you do not know which role will be your ticket to Hollywood. So you have to trust and give your hundred percent to each part in the hope that this will be your dream break out. For actor Tom Pelphrey his breakout came from Netflix’s hit show Ozark.

His role not only established him among the fans but also put him on the list of upcoming Hollywood projects.

From Ozark to Hollywood Tom Pelphrey’s journey

Although Tom Pelphrey (Ben) is no longer in the series, his character has left an indelible mark. Pelphrey’s character first appeared in Season 3 as Wendy’s younger brother. Ben had bipolar disorder and had stopped taking his medication. He was a wounded man with a golden heart. His unstable actions, as a result, put the Byrde’s underworld operation in jeopardy.

Wendy put Ben in the path of a hitman in the season three finale, and the story has operated since as if the character is dead (though fans hope this isn’t the case). Ben continues to loom large over the rest of the Ozark plot.

Tom Pelphrey‘s career was already on the rise when he landed Ozark, but he acknowledges it “was a game changer job.” Later that year, he starred in David Fincher’s Mank, and this month, he co-stars with Josh Brolin in Amazon Prime‘s paranormal mystery series Outer Range.

Outer Range began filming in New Mexico in January 2021, when the virus and limitations kept many people home. Pelphrey recalls the experience on set as “a strange sense of being completely isolated, juxtaposed with the most amazing cast.” The filming bubble, he claims, drew the cast closer together, and they’re still in touch.

Ozark is considered to be a very well-written show. It is both a critical as well as commercial success. So while talking about his albeit short yet successful run on the show, Tom said, “As an actor, there’s nothing you want more or there’s nothing more than having good material.”

Ozark will return with its final part on Netflix on April 29th.
