The Witcher season 2 will not be on Netflix in May 2021
The Witcher season 2 is expectedly not on the list of Netflix’s May 2021 releases, but when can we finally watch it?
Netflix posted the list of the content coming to the streaming service in May 2021. Though they were expected, the absences of many highly anticipated productions disappointed the fans. The Witcher season 2 is among those productions as well. We won’t be able to see Geralt of Rivia and Ciri’s new adventures in May 2021. It does not seem like Netflix is going to keep us waiting for too long, though. We already know a reliable release window. Furthermore, there are good guesstimations about the release date.
The Witcher’s second season isn’t coming to Netflix in May 2021, that’s sure. But the production process is over. Netflix also announced that they were going to release the second season by the end of 2021. As the production process has finished recently, that means we probably have to wait for 7-8 months until the release. That’s usually the case with many other series as well. When we take that into account, we reach a possible release date of November or December 2021.

We already know that The Witcher season 2 sure to be on Netflix by the end of 2021 unless things go south. However, we may be able to watch The Witcher season 2 even in November if Netflix hurries up. However, we cannot expect the new season to be on Netflix before September. That’s because Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos announced The Witcher season 2 is going to be released in Q4 2021.

Even though Netflix has taken a long time shooting The Witcher season 2 because of the pandemic and Cavill’s injury, the new season is going to be good, it seems. The Witcher‘s showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was in an interview, and she talked about what was coming. She also emphasized the theme of “cost,” and revealed that they were going to focus on emotional costs in season 2. This seems highly reasonable, as we’ll probably see Ciri train with Geralt and create an emotional bond with him in the second season.
You can also check out the news about The Witcher’s spin-off. The prequel to Netflix’s popular fantasy drama is going to take place nearly a thousand years before The Witcher. The spin-off titled The Witcher: Blood Origin will star Laurence O’Fuarain from Game of Thrones and Vikings.
Here’s Netflix’s synopsis of The Witcher for those unfamiliar with it. Besides, you can check out its trailer if you haven’t watched the first season.
