Our favorite streaming platform shared a short teaser for The Witcher season 2 in the scope of the Netflix Geeked Week event.

We know Netflix gives us great productions when it comes to gaming. The streaming platform has been working on successful video game adaptations lately. There are already many successful examples of it, such as DOTA: Dragon’s Blood and Castlevania. Fans praise Netflix’s gaming works, and that’s why they are looking forward to giving us more video game content. We already know some works that are underway, such as the Cyberpunk 2077 anime and League of Legends animated series Arcane.

There are also more installments coming for the already-existing works. Yes, we’re talking about The Witcher season 2. Debuting at the end of 2019, the series became pretty popular quickly. We’ve been waiting for the updates on the second season since then, and here’s a big one. Netflix teased the new season of The Witcher in their Geeked Week event. In addition to many video game-related announcements, we finally got some footage from The Witcher season 2.

The teaser, even though it’s quite short, focuses on our beloved hero Ciri. It shows us a variety of second-long scenes, presumably thought about by her. Check out the teaser for The Witcher season 2 below.

The Witcher announcements in Netflix Geeked Week do not end with this. Netflix also announced a new convention that it’ll host with the developer of The Witcher games: Witchercon. There are no details about it, except CD Projekt Red and Netflix will host it on July 9th, 2021.

As we’re getting closer and closer to the release of The Witcher season 2, we wonder what awaits us next in Ciri and Geralt’s adventures. The showrunner Lauren Hissrich had quite much to say about the new season in an interview.

She talked about the theme of “cost,” which we’ll see in the second season, especially with Ciri. “Obviously, I cannot give anything away about Season 2, but what I will say is that we’re really focusing on emotional costs,” she said. “We have three separate characters who have been living their individual lives, refusing to admit that they need or want anyone else, and you start to see each of them grappling with how their decision-making impacts everyone else and thinking about others before themselves. That is the biggest shift in Season 2.”

In addition to that, she revealed that the crew was working on things that are “beyond comprehension” in terms of size and scope. “… in terms of the production, the renewal gave everyone permission to take a lot more chances, bigger gambles. It just gives everyone that sense of confidence they need to find new levels. Some of the things we’re working on right now are just beyond comprehension in terms of size and scope.”

The hype for the second season of The Witcher is expectedly high, and it seems the crew is confident that they can live up to the expectations.

The Witcher finished its production process around late March-early April. They are working on the post-production right now, and we already have a release window. Netflix‘s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos announced that The Witcher season 2 would be on the platform in Q4 2021. Given how early they finished the filming, we can expect the new season to land on Netflix in October 2021. However, the only thing we know for certain is that The Witcher S2 will be out in October, November, or December 2021.
