The Witcher Season 2 Release Date Announced at Witchercon
The long-awaited release date of The Witcher season 2 is revealed at WitcherCon. The next season will land on Netflix this year.
Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Netflix Original series adapts the bestselling novels of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowksi. The TV series also carries inspirations from video games of the same name. Starring Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen, The Witcher follows the journey of a monster hunter, a rebel sorceress, and a princess on the run. The first season of the series landed on Netflix with eight episodes on December 20, 2019, and received critical acclaim from around the world. Henry Cavill’s brilliant performance of Geralt of Rivia and the overall adaptation also received appreciation from the fans.
The production for the second season started in early 2020. Due to the pandemic-related restrictions, the filming process was delayed time after time. Yet the cast and the crew of The Witcher Netflix have managed to wrap the production back in April 2021. After 160 days of filming, the showrunner of the series Lauren S. Hissrich has said that it was amazing to work with the members of the cast. She also added that she was immensely proud of their work.

And during WitcherCon, a special online event for the series, games, and books of The Witcher, Netflix revealed The Witcher season 2 release date. The streaming giant also shared a teaser video for the upcoming season in addition to the date reveal for the anime series.
The second season of the highly-anticipated series will be available to stream on December 17, 2021. The next installment of the series will show us more lands on the Continent, the Witcher’s home Kaer Morhen and many others. Season 2, like the previous one, will consist of 8 episodes. Netflix also shared the titles in the new season except for the finale.
Netflix Original series stars some of the most talented actors and actresses in the industry. Especially with Henry Cavill, who has played the games and read the books before; the series definitely offer an amazing atmosphere that takes you to the world of The Witcher. Anya Chalotra‘s portrayal of the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg and Freya Allen‘s performance of Ciri has also received critical acclaim.

The two-minutes long trailer video also hit the official YouTube channel of the series. The video invites the fans to the world of Geralt of Rivia as he takes Ciri with him to Kaer Morhen, an ancient castle inhabited by the Witchers.

The Witcher is one of the most popular video game franchises in the world. The books of the series are also quite popular and widely read especially in Europe. The tale of a monster hunter who denies believing in destiny and his constant fight to understand the real identity of monsters offers an epic story that is worth hearing. This is why the streaming giant has taken a solid step to adapt the books into a long-running TV series.
Now that we also know the premiere date of the second season, we will have to wait some more time to finally watch the new episodes.
