The Very Real And Rich Lev Leviev Is Not So Different From The Tinder Swindler
The world is currently watching the escapades of the con artist Simon Leviev, a.k.a. the “Tinder Swindler” in the Netflix released documentary about him. Simon Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, was imprisoned in Israel for conning multiple women across Europe on the dating app Tinder. He presented to be the son of diamond mogul Lev Leviev. However, the father-son duo has more in common than you can imagine.

Like father like son
Lev Leviev is an Israeli businessman popularly known as the “King of diamonds.” Simon Leviev lied about being the son of the Israeli billionaire to con women.
Lev Leviev rose to power thanks to his relations with Vladimir Putin and Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos. His contacts helped him establish mines and take over Beers’ hold on the market. Leviev’s relationship with the Russian Vladimir began in 1992 when Putin was just a mayor in St.Petersburg and authorized the opening of a Jewish school funded by Leviev. Lev is also friends with President Sam Nujoma of Namibia.
Back in 2003, Forbes declared Lev as “the world’s largest cutter and polisher of the precious gems and a primary source of rough stones to other cutters, polishers and jewelry makers around the globe.”
It is no doubt that his connections have made him a billionaire. However, things are not always smooth sailing. When Leviev was starting to buy the 40% shares of the Australian Argyle diamond mines, many banks backing him up drew out at the last moment. His lack of transparency is the reason for pulling out, said the banks.

Thus, even if Lev himself isn’t involved in anything wrong, it is clear that his acquaintances are rather fishy.
