Pieces of a woman

Vanessa Kirby’s character in Pieces of a woman is far from her portrayal of Princess Margaret in the critically acclaimed series about the British Royalty, The Crown. She plays a grief-stricken mother, whose life is shattered after a home birth goes awry. 

The event in turn affects her relationship with her family and her husband. 

This is a movie that is going to make you ugly cry. 

Lovely bones

Ladybird’s fame, Saoirse Ronan, plays the role of a 14-year-old teenager who is murdered. Her family is crushed after her death and wants to find the one behind the deed. She watches her family from the other side as they cope with the loss and tries to tell them the real killer. 

In this supernatural thriller, Ronan is accompanied by Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz.

The Oscar-winning movie is based on a shocking true story. It follows four Boston Globe journalists as they investigate the child molestation allegation against the local Catholic Church. The subject is heavy and is quite exasperating. 

With a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie stars, Rachel McAdams, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, and Liev Schreiber. 

Marriage Story

Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver both earned an Oscar nomination for their portrayal of a deeply unhappy couple in the 2019 movie, The Marriage Story. Directed by Noah Baumbach, it follows a stage director and his wife’s marriage as their marital union ends. 

The movie has gained a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is available to stream on Netflix.

For all the romanticists out there who want to watch good-old romance, this is the movie for you. Channing Tatum essays the role of a charming soldier, who re-enlists in the army after the 9/11 attack while Amanda Seyfried plays his wide-eyed romantic interest. 

The movie chronicles their romance over 7 years as they keep their romance alive through love letters.
