The creator of Outer Banks, Jonas Pate, claims to Entertainment Weekly in 2020, “Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but four seasons. We’ve sort of long-arced it out pretty far. I’m just hoping that we get a chance to actually tell those stories.” He also added, “before [season 1] even came out, Netflix had greenlit us to write some [season 2] scripts.”

When will it be released?

Outer Banks is the perfect show for lockdown. Its Season 1 was released back in April 2020 and within a few days, it gained a lot of popularity. Season 2 was released in July 2021. Without any delays, the crew went on to film for Season 3. We can hope Season 3 will be premiered on Netflix in the summer of 2022. But, Netflix has not confirmed the official date.

The team from behind-the-scenes including Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke told Entertainment Weekly that they will not give up without more adventure. Josh Pate claims, “[The treasure] has to become a bigger mystery across the series. And so the treasure hunt is going to expand, and the mythology around the treasure hunt is going to evolve and get deeper. We’re pretty fired up about how that mythology is going to expand in season 3. We’ve been reading a lot of books, and we got some good things to hang it on.”
