Netflix recently added yet another dark teen drama to the list of Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why. And After binging through all the eight episodes of One of Us is Lying; fans have already started wondering if there will be One of Us Is Lying season 2. And if there will be then what’s in for its irresistible caste?

If you aren’t already aware; it follows a brain, an athlete, a criminal, a princess, and a basket case walk into detention- but only four come out alive. And the entire Bayview high becomes the suspect of the police investigation.

One of Us is Lying season 2

Sure, the premise is intriguing and so is the series. But as soon as the existing season comes to its climactic ending, we are left with a huge cliffhanger. And well, long before this teen drama internationally touched down on Netflix, NBC Universal had announced the renewal of the second season. Showrunner Erica Saleh said in an interview, “We are so happy with the reception of season 1, and are beyond thrilled that we get to continue our story in season 2. We can’t wait to bring more mystery to the halls of Bayview High!” 

Having that said, you might wonder what lies ahead of us and the characters (still alive) in One of Us is Lying Season 2. Let’s dissect the season 1 cliffhanger together and unveil what amusements will the anticipated second season bring to our screens. Plot theories for the second season

Notably, One of Us is Lying is based on the best-selling novel by Karen M. McManus. Further, director Darío Madrona, the co-creator of Elite, has finely woven this novel into the series. And although there is a sequel to the novel which is set a year after the first series; One of Us is Lying season 2 will pick up the lead exactly where the first season left it, reports Deadline.

Towards the end of the first season, it is revealed that Simon tainted his own water with peanut oil as a part of a prank. Apparently, his partner in this notorious act was Jake, Addy’s boyfriend. After drinking this so-called dangerous soup, Simon enacted his death to scare his mates. The plan was, he would then wake up using one of his EpiPens, but in a dark turn of events, he never did. And Jack turned out to be half responsible for his mate’s death.

Jake performed this assassination, and smartly put the blame on Addy, who was cheating on him. Indeed, it was more of revenge than a planned murder. In the end, Addy decodes it all and cracks open Jack’s secret. We see Addy, Cooper, and Janae caught up in a fight with Jake- and boom- one of them shoots the poor boy! Hence setting the obvious plotline for season 2.

Who all will possibly return to the second season of One of Us is Lying

With Jake and Simon out of life, they will surely not return, unless some flashbacks are incorporated. Apart from them, we are likely to meet all the other characters and maybe some new faces as well. Hence, actors playing Cooper, Janae, Addy, Nate, and all the others as listed HERE will return to drive us crazy with their dark secrets and darker crimes.
