Throwback to When Jason Bateman Casually Walked Up the Stage to Collect His Emmy for Best Director for ‘Ozark’

It’s been a long tireless journey, but the spectacle that Ozark has been is finally concluded. So maybe now is the best time to look back at the outstanding show’s previous seasons and achievements. And if we say achieved, how can we leave the Emmys that the show won? Jason Bateman alone won two of the major Emmys for his role as a director and an actor in the show. However, if you guys remember the era before the pandemic 2019 when Jason won the Emmy, you must remember how the internet completely blew because of his reaction to winning.

Let us take a look back at the time when all was good, and Jason was still funny without even saying a word.

The reaction of Jason Bateman to winning an Emmy

The camera is aimed at you because you’re meant to seem casual, glad to be nominated. And generally unconcerned about what’s going on. Of course, most of them are probably screaming, and who knows what else, internally.

Jason Bateman, on the other hand, was so unconcerned at the 2019 Emmys that he seemed nearly completely clueless that he had won.

Of course, it was that split second of general, “Huh?” -ness that drew everyone’s attention since Game of Thrones was widely expected to win, with two directors – yes, TWO – in the race.

Despite this, Jason Bateman emerged victoriously. Bateman won for his role as an accountant in the Netflix crime series Ozark. In the series, he executive produced, directed, and appeared.

Again, the astonishment on Bateman’s face may not have registered, but it was felt by everyone around him, even those in the Game of Thrones team. This coincidentally was also the night Julia Garner won an Emmy as well for her portrayal of Ruth.

What does he have to say about the win

Even though, at that time, Jason was taken aback by his win. Since then, he has had a lot to say about his winning the Emmy for directing.

In the new farewell video to Ozark, Bateman specifically addressed his Emmy for Directing because he says, “that was what I was originally attracted to with this job.”

Apart from directing, Jason also won an Emmy for Best Actor for his tremendous performance as Marty Byrde.
