The French horror show follows the life of Emma Larsimon. Emma is a well-known French novelist who has earned a fortune writing novels about how her fictitious heroine, Lizzie Larck, battles a demonic creature known as Marianne.
Marianne has been haunting Emma in her dreams since her youth, unbeknownst to the world and her followers, and she invented Lizzie on paper to fight back against Marianne.
This appears to be working for a time until one of her childhood friends from her hometown commits suicide in front of her, claiming Marianne has possessed her mother and that she must continue writing to protect those she loves.
She has another nightmare about Marianne, and she travels to her hometown to confront the terrible witch face to face.
The cast of the show
One of the strongest points of the show is its cast. All the actors do a tremendous job, each playing their character with the utmost precision and excellence.
The series stars Victoire du Bois as the main protagonist Emma Larsimon, Lucie Boujenah as Camile. Joinging them are Mireille Herbstmeyer as Madame Daugeron, Tiphaine Daviot as Aurore, and last but not the least Corinne Valancogne as Madame Larsimon.

Many reviewers consider it a great watch with the Decider writing, “Marianne is good, manipulative fun, a collection of familiar horror tropes, nicely executed with a little bit of tongue in a little bit of cheek. The worldly/naive dynamic between Emma and Camille offers character potential.”
Digital Spy has also applauded the show’s main lead by saying, “As played by Du Bois, Emma makes for a refreshingly complex lead – self-centered, tough and demanding, she’s plausibly a literary rockstar.”
