We literally learned hundreds of things about Will Smith in under an hour, thanks to David Letterman and his questions. One of the rather surreal segments of Will’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction episode was how his father’s death and other scenarios led him to Peru, where he was introduced to Ayahuasca.

While discussing Ayahuasca with David Letterman, Smith explains that it is not a hallucinogenic drug but a psychotropic, meaning things aren’t going inside your head. Or how Smith explains it better, saying it isn’t “superimposed on reality.”

Instead, the King Richard actor says they are two different realities that you perceive at the same time. He also explains how one is in full focus of what is happening and even has complete sight.

To which David follows up with a question, “Could you get up and go to dinner?” and Will, even though agreeing, says that one can but wouldn’t want to as it is a private experience saying, “You want to be in a private scenario.”

The Bright star then informs David how a single dosage of Ayahuasca lasts for eight hours. And after commencing the journey, one has no control over it but to let it pass.
