When it comes to Hollywood, there’s only a bunch of stars that can pull some real numbers at the box office. Apart from Tom Cruise, directors and producers often want to bet their money on Will Smith. After all, he has successfully delivered some superhits throughout his career, namely, Independence Day, Pursuit of Happiness, Men in Black, Bad Boys, etc.

Will Smith almost played Superman
Even Will Smith knows his limits. In an old MTV interview back in 2008, the star revealed that he was offered to play Superman, but he rejected the role because he didn’t want to take the risk of disappointing the people and messing up with their heroes. The risk was too big for him, and he had hoped to continue in Hollywood.
“There is no way I’m playing Superman!’. You can’t be messing up white people’s heroes in Hollywood. You mess up white peoples’ heroes in Hollywood, you’ll never work in this town again!” he had stated.

Smith would also go on to reject Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. They ended up parting ways because Smith wanted a love story, but Quentin wasn’t ready to change the outcome. Smith’s bad decisions continued. The actor also later confessed to being too immature for rejecting a kissing scene in Six Degrees of Separation. But like every time, the man is yet again repenting for his actions. His Oscars slap gate controversy is still a hot topic, and he is still weathering the storm.
If he had accepted the offer then, then we probably wouldn’t have Henry Cavill and the DCEU would have looked really different now. But it happened for the best because Cavill has embodied the Kryptonite man like no other.
