When Ozark was first released in 2017, many people and critics were not so fond of Jason’s new role. Jason Bateman has been a comedic legend. He has had some of the funniest films in recent history. So when he decided to star in a dark-humored thriller, it was obvious that some apprehensions accompanied the show’s first season.
However, four extremely successful seasons and many Emmys later all are stunned, to say the least. Bateman says that his acting and direction in the final episode of the Ozark were considered so great by his dear friend and The Adam Project star Ryan Reynolds that the Canadian actor sent him an appreciation text.
The text from Ryan praised Jason’s acting and his amazing ability to stay within character at all times.
Ryan wrote “You are so f—ing good at your job, it’s frightening. Even the moments I’m expecting a perfect Bateman comedy layup, you have the mental temerity to resist and stay with the character.”
The Deadpool actor even calls his performance a “masterclass” and something to learn from.
