With Season 3 on the Run, The Witcherverse Spin Off, Rats Prequel, Seems Cut Down
Netflix has delighted its fans with a plethora of captivating fantasy series, and The Witcher stands out as one of the most prominent among them. In addition to the main production, the spin-off culture surrounding the show has been a delightful experience for fans of the fantasy genre. Volume 1 of Season 3 has already garnered high praise from fans, with many considering it to be Henry Cavill‘s finest season yet, before his exit. The expansive world of The Witcherverse continues to enthrall audiences, leaving them eager for more thrilling adventures.
The Witcher has cashed its success by saturating the market with multiple spin-offs. With its anime adaptation and Blood Origin already on the charts, it has birthed another spin-off, Rats. The mesmerizing visuals and captivating storyline of Volume 1 have already captivated fans, featuring their beloved characters Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer. In Season 3, viewers can anticipate much more features of the Rats of The Witcher, a group of rebellious teenagers from Geso who resort to theft to fulfill their material desires. Meanwhile, a separate spin-off titled The Witcher: Riff Raff is set to talk about this intriguing faction. However, there is some concerning news that might not please the fans.
Although Netflix has not made any official announcements, it appears that the production of the prequel of Rats has significantly shortened during the pre-production stage as reported by Redanian Intelligence. They initially planned the series as an 8-episode series. The limited filming of just two months, points to a reduction of the episode count to 3-4. Furthermore, there is currently no information regarding the inclusion of Ciri’s character in it despite knowing full well that author Andrzej Sapkowski has linked her character to the events of Rats.
The Witcher: Riff Raff has sparked questions and complaints from its fans regarding the potential departure of key characters from the original series in the spin-off. Fans are curious to know which actors from the main series will be involved in Rats and if any of them will be stepping down from their roles.

Fans are in awe as all the six of their favorite casts are reportedly a part of the spin off. Ben Radcliffe as Giselher, Christelle Elwin as Mistle, Fabian McCallum as Kayleigh, Aggy K. Adams as Iskra, Juliette Alexandra as Reef, and Connor Crawford as Asse, are set to be part of this spin-off. Meanwhile, will Henry Cavill be a part of the prequel, is still a question.
Dolph Lundgren, who portrays Brehen, is also expected to star in Rats. However, it remains uncertain whether Freya Allan will participate in the series. Filmed in South Africa, Rats has faced criticism for potentially deviating from the true tone of The Witcher. Only when it premieres on Netflix will the true nature of the show become clear.
