Horrors, Mysteries, and Myths are like the Belgium Chocolate Sundae! We want more and more of it. Archive 81 is one such drama series that we want more of. A combination of horror-mystery-sci-fi-myth and whatnot; this Shondaland masterpiece has already developed a separate fan base. And now we have undoubtedly started to wonder if there will be Archive 81 season 2?
The eight-episode horror series has made a triumphal entry and is all prepared to hit the bull’s eye in Netflix’s top 10 charts. Fascinatingly, as we jump from one episode to the other; the show gets more and more creepy and spectators get more curious. Although every new episode explains the happening of the previous one; the acme leaves us on a cliffhanger.
What could the worlds of two different realms possibly bring to Archive 81 season 2?
In the season one finale, Melody saved Jess, and Dan rescued her from the demonic mirror realm. But in that process, Dan finds himself waking up in the New York City hospital of the 1900s after the Visser is destroyed. Chiefly, Dan getting locked in the timeline will be of a great deal in Archive 81 season 2.
Interestingly, talking to Variety, showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine confirmed Kaelego didn’t fool Dan with his fantasy reality. She says, “He’s in the real ’90s, and the clue for that is that it does not have the particulates floating around there.” Moreover, season 2 will also revolve a lot around Samuel; the one who pulled Melody through. Further, why did Virgil Davenport set up this whole thing in the first place? We may find answers to these in season 2
Sonnenshine also told Variety, “I think there’s a lot of story that we didn’t get a chance to tell in that eight-episode first season.” She further continued, “But we do know what Davenport is up to and so that is very much a part of Season 2. That’s great that, hopefully, we leave people with questions. I definitely try not to answer questions before people ask them as an audience. You don’t want to frontload information. We have a lot of cool stuff planned for Davenport.”
All of this is enough to convince us that season 2 of this horror mystery might be on its way.
When is the portal to season 2 opening on Netflix?
According to Rebecca Sonnenshine, there is no renewal of season two yet. But she also revealed to Variety that they have started an email chain, discussing the ideas for season 2 as soon as they were done with season 1. Further, she added “all through production and post, we’ve been compiling and then really sitting down and thinking about what would happen in Season 2. So we’re ready to go, should we be so lucky to get a Season 2, we have some really cool stories to tell.”
However, Netflix has made no official announcement regarding this matter. But if everything goes well, we can expect a season two of Archive 81 at some time in the year 2023. Don’t worry, we will keep you posted. Meanwhile, hither and thither in the world of two different domains of the series. And don’t forget to tell Kaelego how would you want him to bend your world in the comment section
