Will ‘The Witcher’ Renewal Sabotage the Biggest Role of Henry Cavill’s Career?
“I run into dilemmas all the time… This is not one of them.” This is possibly what the Netflix executive said when they green-lit The Witcher for two more seasons. Yes, you read that right. There is a long way to go till one has to bid adieu to Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. However, this isn’t the only iconic role the British hunk has in his arsenal.
Cavill has been active in the film industry since 2001. A treasure trove of talent, the actor has several memorable performances and diverse characters in his impressive portfolio. While the news of The Witcher getting renewed is absolutely amazing, one can’t help but wonder about the fate of his other legendary persona. Can you guess which role we are referencing?

Does The Witcher renewal signify the end of a massive Henry Cavill dramatis personae?
Not to diminish Geralt of Rivia in any way, but Henry Cavill played one of his most noteworthy parts back in 2013. Almost a decade ago, the incredible actor donned the blue and red suit and embodied the mind, body, and spirit of Man on Steel. For an entire generation, Cavill is synonymous with DC’s Superman. Fans have been worried about Cavill returning as the son of Krypton for a while now owing to his no-show at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
Also, the many reports of him jumping ship to the MCU have diminished the hopes further. Now, with the announcement of the Netflix period fantasy getting renewed, you can see the faith of the DCEU fans fading into oblivion. The shoot for The Witcher season 3 took almost 6 months. With two more seasons, Henry will probably have to block at least a year on his calendar.
If the actor is busy filming for back-to-back seasons of The Witcher, it might be a task to find even a small opening for Superman. Having said that, a 2021 interview with Lorraine might just be the glimmer of hope the DCEU fandom was looking for. The Enola Holmes actor shared he still has his Superman attire “ready and waiting for the phone call.”
Who is to say that Cavill cannot return as Superman after the Netflix show comes to an end? If Tobey Maguire can reprise Spider-Man after 15 years, we are sure the fans don’t mind waiting for a couple of years to see their favorite Man of Steel. What do you think are the chances of Cavill’s homecoming as Superman? Let us know in the comments. In the meantime, there is always The Witcher streaming on Netflix.
